CAHR in Kenya is implemented through the Kenya AIDS NGOs consortium (KANCO) and focuses its work in Nairobi and the East coast (the towns of Mombasa, Malindi, Kilifi and Ukunda) where HIV prevalence rates among people who inject drugs are high (best estimates show between 36-53%). Work in Kenya represents a major early step in curtailing the injecting-driven HIV epidemic in a country already hard hit by the HIV epidemic.
