Sexual and Reproductive health training conducted in Kenya


On 5-7th August, 2015 a training on Sexual and Reproductive health and Rights was conducted in Nairobi, Kenya.

The training involved CAHR implementing partners in Kenya: University of Nairobi Centre for HIV prevention and Research, Impact Research and Development Organization, Nairobi Outreach Services, OMARI Project, Reach out, Muslim Education and Welfare Association, Teens watch and Support for Addiction Prevention and Treatment in Africa, KANCO regional coordinator: Coast, Nyanza/Western and Rongai, Technical Support Hub of Eastern and Southern Africa, Ministry of health Reproductive health officers: Mombasa, Kilifi, Migori  and Awendo Counties and  Kenya  Network of People who use drugs.

The participants found the training very effective. The next steps for the implementing partners, regional coordinators, Ministry of Health officers and Kenya Network of People who use drugs were defined: building capacity of staff in their organizations on SRHR issues among KPs, sensitizing Ministry of health service providers with an aim to strengthen referral and linkages on SRH issues for KPs, mapping all health facilities offering SRH facilities in their areas and increasing SRH services provided to KPs.

The next steps for the Technical Support Hub of Eastern and Southern Africa KANCO included: revision of the TS support plan to include SRHR/HIV integration, design and deliver a  ToT training on SRHR/KPs integration to a pool of consultants, train CSOs in ESA on SRHR integration in KPs programmes and develop/collate and disseminate materials and resources on SRHR to trained organizations.
