On the 26th June 2013, people in 41 cities around the world gathered for a ‘Day of Action’ as part of the Support. Don’t Punish campaign – a global advocacy campaign to raise awareness of the harms caused by the criminalisation of people who use drugs.
To promote the ‘Day of Action’ for this year, the campaign team have worked with the professional video producers Not by Hook to create a new video – a call to all those who want to get involved in the campaign in 2014. The video can be viewed by clicking the image below:
The video was launched alongside a new campaign newsletter on 26th March – three months before the 2014 ‘Day of Action’. There are a number of ways in which you can take part:
- Visit www.supportdontpunish.org to subscribe and support the campaign.
- Visit us on Facebook and Twitter and share the campaign with your own friends, peers and colleagues.
- Join more than 2,000 people who have taken part in the Interactive Photo Project – just download the campaign poster, take your photo holding the poster, and then send it to email@example.com to be uploaded.
- Organise, or take part in, a local event on the Day of Action on Thursday June 26th (the United Nations' International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking).
For more information on any of the above, please visit www.supportdontpunish.org or contact firstname.lastname@example.org. The heightened risks faced by people who use drugs can no longer be ignored – it is time to leave behind the harmful politics, ideology and prejudice; it is time to prioritise the health, welfare and rights of people who use drugs.
