Kenya introduced Opioid Substitution therapy in December 2014. The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Kenya AIDS NGOs Consortium, University of California at San Diego, the University of Nairobi and New York University conducted a mixed-method mathematical modelling and qualitative study to examine the ‘promise of methadone’ for Kenya. The study 'Is the promise of methadone Kenya’s solution to managing HIV and addiction?' modeled the HIV prevention impact of OST in Nairobi, Kenya, at different levels of intervention coverage.
